Marina Bar sits on the southern Montenegrin coast south of the Bay of Kotor, with 50 superyacht berths in the working commercial-and-pleasure port of Bar — the principal Montenegrin commercial port and ferry gateway to Italy (Bari, Ancona). The setting is markedly different from the Boka megayacht marinas — working port, less polished, with full ferry traffic and the access to inland Montenegro (Lake Skadar, Cetinje, the mountain interior) that the bay marinas cannot match. The pantry is full Montenegrin with inland depth. Vranac indigenous reds (Lake Skadar area is just inland), Krstač whites. Stari Bar olive oil — the inland Bar area is the principal Montenegrin olive oil region (one of the world's oldest cultivated olive trees, around 2,000 years old, is in Stari Bar). Lake Skadar freshwater fish — the lake is Europe's largest by surface area and produces carp, bleak, and the local Skadar eel. Njeguški pršut from the mountains above Kotor. Crmnica wines from the Lake Skadar shores. Bar specialties: priganice (sweet fried dough), the Albanian-influenced crossover cuisine of the southern Montenegrin coast (Bar is 35 km north of the Albanian border). Yachting season runs May through October with year-round commercial-port operation. Bar suppliers handle same-day on fresh items and 24 to 48 hours on full provisioning, with direct access to inland Montenegrin sourcing (Lake Skadar fish, Stari Bar olive oil) that the Boka marinas obtain via longer routes.
