Marina Empuriabrava sits in Castelló d'Empúries on the northern Costa Brava, with 80 superyacht berths and 5,000 mooring positions across 25 kilometres of canals — the so-called "Venice of Catalonia", the largest residential canal-marina of Europe. Developed in the 1960s on the wetlands of the Empordà coast, the marina serves the residential-villa economy and the regional yachting traffic between France (Mediterranean French border 30 km north) and Barcelona. The pantry is Empordà Catalan. Empordà DO wines — the appellation immediately inland is one of Catalonia's oldest and most distinctive, with Garnatxa (Grenache), Carinyena (Carignan) reds and Garnatxa Blanca whites, plus the iconic Garnatxa de l'Empordà sweet dessert wine. Olive oil from the Empordà — DOP Empordà. Catalan specialties: pa amb tomàquet, calçots (in season, late winter), escalivada, butifarra, suquet de peix. Anchoas de l'Escala — the famous cured anchovies from the small fishing town of L'Escala 20 km south, considered Spain's most prestigious anchovy (the L'Escala anchovy is hand-salted from the Bay of Roses fishing tradition). Gambes de Palamós (the red prawns) from south. Crema catalana. Fresh fish from the Roses auction and L'Escala. Specialty providers handle the residential and seasonal yacht traffic. Yachting season runs May through October. Empuriabrava suppliers handle same-day on fresh items and 24 to 48 hours on full provisioning, with cross-border French sourcing via Perpignan readily available.
