Porto di Civitavecchia is the principal commercial and cruise port of Rome, sixty kilometres north-west of the capital, with 90 superyacht berths inside the historic Michelangelo-designed harbour. It is one of the busiest ferry ports of the Mediterranean — daily connections to Sardinia, Sicily, Barcelona, Tunis — and serves as the practical Roman-coast base for superyachts visiting the capital or repositioning across the Tyrrhenian. Pantry: Roman and Lazio. Olive oil from the Sabina hills (the oldest documented olive oil tradition in Italy, DOP Sabina), Tuscia (Viterbo province) and the Castelli Romani. Lazio whites: Frascati DOC, Est! Est!! Est!!! di Montefiascone, Cesanese del Piglio for reds. Roman specialties: carbonara, cacio e pepe, amatriciana, abbacchio al forno, supplì, the full Roman pasta and street-food repertoire. Fresh fish from Civitavecchia's own auction and the Rome-coast boats. Specialty Roman producers: guanciale (the cured pork jowl that is the cornerstone of Roman pasta), Pecorino Romano DOP, ricotta romana. Specialty kosher providers are available given Rome's continuous Jewish community since antiquity. Yachting season runs effectively April through October with significant transit traffic year-round. Suppliers handle same-day on fresh items and 24 to 48 hours on full provisioning. Civitavecchia's road and rail connections to Rome (45 minutes by train) make it the natural base for charter starts where guests fly into Rome Fiumicino.
