Marina Piccola di Sorrento is the principal port of Sorrento, set beneath the famous Piazza Tasso cliffs at the north end of the Sorrentine Peninsula, with 60 superyacht berths in a tight harbour facing Vesuvius across the Bay of Naples. The town is the historic luxury destination of the Gulf of Naples — the Grand Tour terminus — and the gateway between Naples, Capri, Procida and Ischia. The Sorrentine pantry is one of the richest in Italy. Sfusato Sorrentino lemons — IGP-protected, the other true limoncello variety with Capri's sfusato — grow on terraces immediately above the port. Buffalo mozzarella from the Caserta and Cilento plains, fior di latte from the Lattari mountains directly inland, pasta from Gragnano just behind the peninsula. San Marzano tomatoes from the Agro Nocerino. The Sorrentino kitchen tradition: gnocchi alla sorrentina, scialatielli ai frutti di mare, parmigiana di melanzane, delizie al limone. Wines from Campania DOC and the Sorrentine peninsula's own small producers (Lacryma Christi from Vesuvius, Falanghina, Greco). Fresh fish from the daily Sorrento auction and the Naples wholesale market. Yachting season runs May through October with sharp peaks in late June through August. Sorrento suppliers handle same-day on fresh items ordered before 09h00 and 24 to 48 hours on full provisioning, with tender delivery to Capri, Procida, Ischia and the Costiera Amalfitana.
