Porto di Imperia sits at the western end of the Riviera di Ponente, between San Remo and the French border, with 70 superyacht berths split between the older Oneglia basin and the modern Borgo Marina extension. Imperia is the olive oil capital of Liguria — the Taggiasca variety is grown almost entirely in the surrounding hinterland — and the town's economy is built as much around the oil mills and the Olioliva festival as around the marina itself.
The pantry centres on Taggiasca olive oil at its source — the small, fruity, low-acidity oil that defines all Ligurian cooking and especially the Riviera di Ponente kitchen. Taggiasca table olives. Pigato di Ranzo whites from the inland Arroscia valley, Vermentino di Liguria, Ormeasco di Pornassio and Rossese di Dolceacqua reds from the Imperia and Sanremo hinterland. Fresh fish from the Imperia and San Remo boats, and inland from the Maritime Alps: lamb, hard cheeses, mountain herbs. Specialty providers handle olive oil at allocation level for premium yacht accounts.
Yachting season runs April through October. Imperia's proximity to the French border (Ventimiglia and Menton 30-45 minutes by road) makes it a natural last/first Italian stop. Suppliers handle same-day on fresh items ordered before 10h00 and 24 to 48 hours on full provisioning. The Imperia auction is unusually accessible to provisioning agents, giving direct access to the morning catch.
