Porto di Ischia is the main port of the largest island of the Gulf of Naples, with 60 superyacht berths in the natural volcanic crater harbour of Ischia Porto. Larger and greener than Capri, less crowded than Procida, Ischia is the spa-island of the Gulf — thermal springs, six distinct districts, an indigenous wine production going back to the Greek colonists who named the island Pithecusae and planted the first vineyards.
The Ischitan pantry is distinct from the rest of Campania. Indigenous white grape varieties — Biancolella, Forastera — produce the island's signature wines, which exist in serious quantity nowhere else (with the partial exception of Ponza). The local red Per'e Palummo (Piedirosso, "dove's foot") is equally indigenous. Coniglio all'ischitana — slow-cooked rabbit in clay pots with garlic, white wine and tomato — is the island's iconic dish, distinct from anywhere else in Italy. Fresh fish from the Ischia auction and small-boat fishermen of Forio and Sant'Angelo: sea bass, dentex, octopus, sea urchin. Mainland Campania sourcing (buffalo mozzarella, San Marzano, Gragnano pasta) arrives by daily ferry from Pozzuoli and Naples.
Yachting season runs May through October. Ischia suppliers handle same-day on fresh items and 24 to 48 hours on full provisioning, with tender delivery to anchorages around the island (Sant'Angelo, Forio, Lacco Ameno) and onward to Procida.
