Porto di Piombino sits at the southern end of the Tuscan coast, opposite Elba, with 60 superyacht berths and the principal ferry connection to the Tuscan Archipelago. It is a working commercial port with practical infrastructure rather than resort polish, and serves charters that need a mainland base while operating across Elba, Pianosa, Capraia and the wider archipelago. Pantry: southern Tuscan coast and Maremma. Olive oil from the Val di Cornia and inland Maremma. Tuscan whites: Vermentino, Trebbiano. Tuscan reds: Val di Cornia DOC, Suvereto DOCG, Bolgheri 20 minutes north (Sassicaia, Ornellaia, Le Macchiole, Guado al Tasso). Fresh fish from the Piombino auction and the local boats. Maremma specialties: cinta senese pork, pecorino di Pienza, Maremma cattle, wild boar (cinghiale) preparations. The Val di Cornia is also a Slow Food area for traditional vegetables (Suvereto onion, Bibbona artichoke). Yachting season runs May through September with shoulder support from refit traffic. Piombino suppliers handle same-day on fresh items and 24 to 48 hours on full provisioning, with onward delivery to Elba via the daily ferry. The port is a useful base for charters wanting mainland sourcing while keeping access to the archipelago.
