Marina di Procida sits on the smallest and most authentic island of the Gulf of Naples, with 45 superyacht berths in the colourful Marina Grande harbour where Il Postino and The Talented Mr Ripley were filmed. Procida is the island of fishermen — quieter than Ischia, less polished than Capri, the entire population still making its living between the sea and the small terraced gardens above the village.
The Procidan pantry is fishing-village direct. Fresh fish from the Procidan boats — sea bass, dentex, octopus, sardines, anchovies, sea urchin in season, the local seafood goes straight from the boats to the harbour-front fishmongers each morning. Limone di Procida — a smaller, distinctive lemon variety with a thick rind and intense fragrance, used in the local insalata di limone (a salad of lemon flesh, oil and chilli that is genuinely Procidan). Small-batch white wines from the island's terraces. Mainland Campania sourcing for everything else — buffalo mozzarella, San Marzano tomatoes, Gragnano pasta — via daily ferry from Pozzuoli (15 minutes) and Naples.
Yachting season runs late May through September. Procida is markedly off the standard yachting circuit and provisioning works in 24 to 48 hour cycles for mainland items, same-day for fresh fish and Procidan produce. The marina is well-suited to charters seeking an authentic Bay-of-Naples village stop rather than resort intensity.
