Porto Carlo Riva is the historic yachting marina of Rapallo, set inside the Tigullio gulf opposite Portofino and built by the legendary Riva family of motor yachts. The 65 superyacht berths and the formal, traditional atmosphere make it one of the most established names on the Tigullio — the choice of charters that want the proximity of Portofino without its mooring scramble. The town of Rapallo behind the marina is a working Ligurian resort with markets, fishmongers and the Tigullio's full restaurant economy.
The pantry is the same Tigullio pool that supplies Portofino, Santa Margherita and Lavagna. Pesto Genovese DOP from Pra' basil, focaccia di Recco al formaggio (the village is fifteen minutes away), salted anchovies from Monterosso, Ligurian olive oil from the Levante. Fresh fish from the Camogli and Santa Margherita boats. Cinque Terre DOC whites and Sciacchetrà passito. Indigenous Tigullio specialties: pansoti with walnut sauce, farinata di ceci, the chestnut-flour preparations of the inland Aveto valley. Several Rapallo suppliers maintain restaurant-grade catering for in-marina delivery.
Yachting season runs May through September with peak demand in July and August. Carlo Riva suppliers handle same-day on fresh items and 24 to 48 hours on full provisioning, with tender delivery to yachts anchored off Portofino, Paraggi, San Fruttuoso and Camogli. Rapallo's road and rail connections make it a more practical full-provisioning hub than Portofino itself.
