Porto di Santa Margherita Ligure sits on the Tigullio gulf between Rapallo and Portofino, in one of the most photographed towns of the Italian Riviera. With 50 superyacht berths set against pastel facades and the Castello Brown looking down from the Portofino headland, it is the natural alternative to Portofino's tighter inner harbour — close enough to walk the coastal path, large enough to handle proper provisioning runs. The pantry is unmistakably Tigullio. Pesto Genovese DOP from Pra' basil, focaccia di Recco al formaggio from the neighbouring village, salted anchovies from Monterosso, Ligurian olive oil from the Levante coast. Santa Margherita's own fish market is one of the best on the Tigullio — local boats land sea bass, dentex, bianchetti in spring, anchovies and sardines through the summer. Pansoti with walnut sauce, the traditional Tigullio first course. Cinque Terre DOC whites and Sciacchetrà passito. Several Santa Margherita suppliers maintain restaurant-grade catering kitchens and work directly with the town's Michelin restaurants for charter catering. Yachting season runs May through September with sharp peaks in July and August when the Portofino mooring scramble pushes traffic into Santa Margherita. Suppliers handle same-day on fresh items ordered before 10h00 and 24 to 48 hours on full provisioning, with tender delivery to Portofino, Paraggi and San Fruttuoso. The town's compact layout means most suppliers can deliver to multiple yachts in a single morning circuit.
