Porto di Giardini Naxos is the principal yachting port serving Taormina, with 50 superyacht berths in the bay of Naxos beneath the dramatic cliff-top setting of Taormina itself (the village sits 200 metres above the sea, connected by road and funicular). Mount Etna rises immediately inland — the active volcano forms the entire western horizon — making this one of the most spectacular yachting destinations of the Mediterranean and the natural luxury hub of eastern Sicily.
The pantry pulls from the Etna terroir and the wider eastern Sicilian pantry. Etna DOC wines from vineyards on the volcano's slopes — Nerello Mascalese reds (often compared to Burgundy for their elegance), Carricante whites with intense minerality, Etna Rosato. Pistacchio di Bronte DOP from the volcano's western slopes, used in everything from pesto al pistacchio to cannoli, gelato, mortadella. Mandorla di Avola almonds from south-east Sicily. Pomodoro di Pachino IGP. Sicilian specialties: cannoli (fresh ricotta, candied citrus), cassata, granita con brioche, pasta alla Norma (Catanese but ubiquitous), arancini. Fresh fish from the Catania auction (45 minutes south) and Riposto fishermen. Specialty providers in Taormina maintain Michelin-grade catering for the village's restaurant economy.
Yachting season runs May through October with sharp peaks in late June through August. Giardini Naxos suppliers handle same-day on fresh items and 24 to 48 hours on full provisioning, including tender delivery to Taormina's Isola Bella anchorage immediately south of the port.
