Porto di Favignana sits in the main harbour of the largest Egadi island, off the western tip of Sicily opposite Trapani and Marsala, with 40 superyacht berths in the natural Cala Principale bay. Favignana is the historic centre of Mediterranean tonnara tuna fishing — the Florio family established the industrial tuna trap and processing here in the 19th century, and the iconic mattanza (the traditional industrial tuna catch) defined the island's economy until the late 20th century.
The Favignana pantry is built on tuna. Tonno rosso (Atlantic bluefin) products are the island's signature: bottarga di tonno, tonno sott'olio, ventresca, lattume, musciame, all produced in the restored Stabilimento Florio (the former tuna processing factory, now a museum and active production site for premium operators). Tonnara specialties served at the island's restaurants. Capers from the island's terraces (Egadi capers are similar to Lipari's). Cucina povera Sicilian — couscous alla trapanese (from across the channel), pesto trapanese, pasta con le sarde. Mainland Sicilian sourcing arrives by daily ferry from Trapani (15 km east) — Marsala wines, Sale di Trapani IGP, Val di Mazara DOP olive oil, Nocellara DOP olives, fresh produce, dry stores. The island has limited on-island production beyond tuna and capers.
Yachting season runs May through September with sharp Italian-fleet peaks in late July and August. Favignana suppliers handle same-day on fresh items (tuna products, capers, fish) and 24 to 48 hours on full provisioning via Trapani. Tender delivery to yachts anchored off the famous Cala Rossa, Cala Azzurra and Lido Burrone bays is routine.
