Marciana Marina sits on the north-west coast of Elba, beneath Monte Capanne (the island's highest peak), with 40 superyacht berths in a sheltered bay framed by pine forest. The village is one of Elba's most authentic — a Genoese-era fishing settlement with a small main square, working fishmongers and bakers, and the slower pace of the island's quieter side.
Pantry: Elban and Monte Capanne. Elban wines: Aleatico dell'Elba DOCG passito (Marciana Marina is at the heart of the production zone), Ansonica, Vermentino, Sangiovese. Olive oil from old Elban groves. Fresh fish from the Marciana Marina boats and the Portoferraio auction. Monte Capanne mountain honey (chestnut, wildflower, lavender), wild herbs (rosemary, thyme, oregano, myrtle). Elban specialties: schiaccia briaca, gurguglione, stoccafisso alla riese. The hinterland villages of Marciana Alta and Poggio (above the marina, on Monte Capanne's slopes) produce small-batch goat cheese and chestnut preparations.
Yachting season runs late May through September. Marciana Marina is markedly quieter than Portoferraio and well-suited to relaxed cruising. Suppliers handle same-day on fresh items and 24 to 48 hours on full provisioning, with tender delivery to yachts anchored off the western Elban bays (Procchio, Sant'Andrea, Pomonte).
