Porto di Palau sits at the northern tip of Sardinia, opposite the Maddalena archipelago, with 70 superyacht berths and the principal ferry connection to La Maddalena island. The port is the practical mainland base for charters working the Maddalena National Park — Spargi, Santa Maria, Budelli (the famous Spiaggia Rosa pink beach), Caprera (Garibaldi's island), Razzoli — and a useful supply hub for yachts at anchor across the archipelago.
The pantry is north Sardinian — Gallura terroir. Vermentino di Gallura DOCG from the granite hills behind the coast, Cannonau di Sardegna, Pecorino Sardo DOP and Pecorino Romano. Bottarga di muggine. Sardinian specialties: malloreddus, culurgiones, porcetto, pane carasau, mirto. Fresh fish from local Palau boats and the Olbia auction. The Maddalena archipelago itself has limited on-island production beyond fish — most provisioning for yachts in the archipelago is staged from Palau and ferried in.
Yachting season runs late May through September with sharp Italian-fleet peaks in late July and August when the archipelago fills. Palau suppliers handle same-day on fresh items and 24 to 48 hours on full provisioning, with tender delivery throughout the Maddalena anchorages.
