Porto Rotondo sits on the Gulf of Cugnana, fifteen minutes north of Olbia and ten south of Porto Cervo, in a small natural bay that was developed in the 1960s as a quieter alternative to Costa Smeralda's flagship. With 80 superyacht berths, the marina is a discreet, more residential cousin to Porto Cervo — older money, fewer paparazzi, the same Vermentino-and-pecorino pantry. The pantry is north-east Sardinian — identical in origin to Olbia and Porto Cervo. Vermentino di Gallura DOCG from the granite hills behind the coast, Cannonau di Sardegna reds, Pecorino Sardo DOP and Pecorino Romano. Bottarga di muggine from the Cabras lagoon. Sardinian specialties: malloreddus, culurgiones (the stuffed pasta of Ogliastra), porcetto roasted on myrtle branches, pane carasau, mirto liqueur from wild myrtle. Fresh fish from the Olbia auction and the local boats. The supplier network is the same as Porto Cervo's, with most operators serving both ports daily. Yachting season runs May through September with sharp peaks in late July and August. Porto Rotondo is markedly calmer than Porto Cervo and well-suited to charters wanting Costa Smeralda quality without the visibility. Suppliers handle same-day on fresh items and 24 to 48 hours on full provisioning, with tender delivery to yachts anchored off Cala di Volpe and the Smeralda's bays.
